RE: 2007 Supernova Performance Chip ???

I put a TS Peformance MP 8 Module on mine. It has 3 stages, stock, 15% and 30%. I leave it on 30% all the time. I have seen a difference. I tow a lot of weight, 13000 plus and it went up Black Mountain 6% grade at 35 MPH. Does not sound fast, but without it I was below 20 MPH. I was actually passing trackor trailers going up the hill!
I was impressed. I do have one issue with it. With the module on 30% and you are not steady on the throttle, it thows the Check Engine light on and kills the power. But letting up on it, the engine light goes off and back to normal. I have ran with it on Cruise at 70mph with no problem. I called TS Performance and they said that it must be pushing the limit for the computer and if I send it back, they would back it down a bit to keep this from happening. But I have not sent it back, I don't want to lose the power!!! Just keep a steady pedal and no issues.
Worth the money!

RE: EMBARK Pictures

no way that the MSRP will be only $200k. Have you seen the price of a Freightline M2 chassis alone? I have seen prices around $130k.

RE: EMBARK Pictures

This looks very similar to the Dynamax Dynaquest XL:
http://www.dynamaxcorp.com/products.php?m=dynaquest-xl
These are in the $210,000 price bracket.
Totally agree on the similar look. Is that $210k MSRP or what you can actually buy one for?

SuperNova Govenor

I have a Endura on an Internation Chassis, just like the SuperNova. It appears to have a govenor on the speed. When the unit hits 75 MPH the engine seems to go quite.
Even going down a large hill the unit only gets to 75 MPH and the engine RPM is still only 2600 RPMs. So I know the engine is not the limit.
Anyone know if there is a speed govenor?

RE: Chip for Supernova?

I found this. It has a unit for a VT365 up to an 07. Which I think will work, since I believe most 08s are built on 07 chassis.
Let me know if you find any info on this. I am looking at it as well.

Trailer brake controller on International Gulf Stream

For someone with an International chassis Gulfstream, is there wires under the dash to wire a trialer brake controller? If so, are they clearly labeled?

RE: Towing with SuperNova or Endura International Chassis

As for the bunk beds. Really not seen that on any. Larger ones just have more couches. However, with the overhead bunk and extra couches, you can sleep alot. But anything that large and newer will cost over $150 easy.
What I hate on most of these is the walk through bathroom. If someone is in the bathroom / shower, you can't get in or out of the beedroom.

RE: Towing with SuperNova or Endura International Chassis

If you want to only go 34'-37' that will only be a 24' to 28' box even on an M-2. If memory serves me you have to add 8 1/2' to the box size for OAL with the M-2. That small a box will not allow for the bunk beds you wanted. If you only want a 24' or 26' box there are plenty out there for under $150K like the one I linked you in your other post. That was a new 2008.
Well that explains a few things, I had no idea you had to add 8 1/2' to the M-2. I am learning something new every day in my search. I defiantly want the bunk beds so I guess I need to look for a larger coach. Do you know if any of these larger units have the bunk beds option I am looking for? The link you provided comes up with a search page with 307 coaches listed. I would love to find a coach in my price range that will tow the amount of weight I have with ease.
Here are some links:
07 24ft Renegade
03 Renegade 28ft
02 Renegade 30ft
06 Renegade 26ft
03 Renegade 30ft
I use to own a Renegade about 6 years ago. It was great. The problem I had was trying to sell it. You market is limited. Mine had a 300hp CAT and to be frankly, it was a little under powered for its size. These things are HEAVY!
I have been in the market for one less then $150k for about 6 months. But I am just unwilling to buy one that is more then 4 years old. I am not worried about the chassis, its all the other things, micro, air, etc. The unit takes a beating. It is a truck and rides like a truck.
So the 07 and 06 24ft and 26ft is what I am limited to, but I really don't like the floor plans and they are small. And anything newer and larger is way past $150k. You can easy get into $200k plus range fast.
Also, be careful of some truck conversions. They may say 2008 or 2007, but they were built on used over the road trucks with 100s of thousands of miles.
I hope this helps.

RE: Towing with SuperNova or Endura International Chassis

I would just as soon have a VT365 over the Duramax. Then why did you ask the question ? If you would have done a search you would have found there are many pages discussing the Super Nova and the VT365. Good Luck with it. Don't forget your earplugs !
The only reason I made the joke is you thrashing the VT365. I did do the research and came up with only one or two people towing, no one with that weight. If this is the way this board treats people looking to find out info, then I will find another place.
There are problems with any product out there. Sometimes you end up lucky and get something that is great, that others think is terrible. So don't be so negative!
Bye the way, here is a forum you can get help on your Duramax problems: http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ef31b32

The VT365 is a product of International not GM's Duramax!!!!!!!
I know, I was making a joke. I assume az99 was a Duramax fan.

RE: Towing with SuperNova or Endura International Chassis

Do a search for the SuperNova and Super Nova. It has been discussed many times with very differing opinions on the abilities of that obsolete pickup truck engine.
So a Duramax is not a pickup motor? I thought I saw a Chevy pickup the other day with a Duramax logo on the side???

RE: It’s the Jeeps fault… Seneca or Supernova?

I think I know the one you are talking about. It is in Az. It is only a 26ft unit, and it is not new, it is a factory demo (29k) that someone bought last year. So a two year old small unit for $120k. I don't know???

RE: It’s the Jeeps fault… Seneca or Supernova?

We really struggled with our decision to purchase the SN6400. We wanted the towing capabilities, towing a 28' trailer with a Rhino and 5 dirt bikes and everything that goes with that, and the floor plan that would best suit our ever growing 4 children and a price that wouldn't dip into their college funds. Yes, we would have preferred a different engine and we looked seriously at the Renegade, Showhauler, Pony Express, etc. . . . Here's some of the issue we wrestled with. We are family and travel to places were a huge truck with double axle's doesn't belong . . . the California desert and beaches, various camp sites, motocross tracks with grass or dirt staging areas. Could we use more pulling power than what is offered w/ the SN6400 YES! Was it worth $100,000 more? Not now in our current situation. So we climb inclines a little slower, and we accept that. Will Jayco produce a better option and at what price? Time will tell, but at the time we were ready to make our purchase the SN6400 offered what we needed at a price we could handle. You are in a great position, time is on your side. Good Luck!
Very well said and very well thought out. I am struggling with the same thing. Even if i coudl get past the engine issue, which i think I could, I can't get past the Gulfstream issue. I just don't have any confidence in them.
I will end up buying used. Looking for a Kibbe or Renegade or United Specialties for $100k or so.
Good Luck! You would have to be looking at a 2000 or older Renegade to get one at that price. Trust me, I have been looking for months. The best deals I can find are 2002 or older and the smaller ones 26ft to 28ft are still $125k plus. I am not sure about buying a unit that is already 6 years old. If you keep it another couple of years, you may never get ride of it (no one wants to loan money on a Renegade that is older then 8 years).
Also, if Seneca comes out with a M2 chassis, it will be pushing $200k. A new small Renegades on a M2 chassis with a 325Hp CAT is $200k plus.

Towing with SuperNova or Endura International Chassis

Anyone towing a large load with a SuperNova? How heavy is your trialer? I am looking at the SuperNova or Endura International and will be towing a 10,000lb trailer. I am concerned about the ability for the unit to take on hills!! Does the VT365 with 300 horses enough? Any issues?
Thanks

RE: SuperNova 6400

We have a 6400, we pull a 28' pace enclosed trailer and we did experience some dragging. We installed a load leveling hitch on the trailer and the arms on the hitch did drag a few times. We were also concerned about the clearance on the levelers, they do seem really low, but so far no problem.
T0951, How heavy us your trailer loaded? I am looking at the Super Nova and will be towing a 10,000lb trailer. I am concerned about the ability for the unit to take on hills!! Any issues?

RE: Super Nova with International Diesel Mileage

T0951-what was the culprit of your overheating issue?
She's in the shop now. I will let you know, I think you might be right though about that fan.
Curious about what you are having done to your SN6400 in the shop, can you update us on that?
Two repairs...when we purchased the coach it had a hair line crack in the fiberglass cab-over (about 3 inches long above the passenger door). GS is repairing and repainting. The second repair is on the hitch...it bent. On our way to AZ over the New Year holiday the hitch bent while towing our 8K lbs trailer??? The trailer tongue wieght is 7-900 lbs and the hitch is rated at 1,500 lbs. Thank God I have a great dealer...
What do you mean it BENT??? That concerns me... Where did it bend? It is a 15000lb, 1500lb tongue hitch, correct?

RE: Super Nova with International Diesel Mileage

The original gearing on the SuperNova when they were first built was 617 and it has a 3200 rpm governor. When I had those gears in my coach, 75 mph was top speed. I have since changed to 529 and top speed is 86 at 3200 rpms. I have read that Gulf Stream now puts the 529 in all new production coaches. My coach weighs 21700 full of fuel, gear, water, and wife and I. The GCWR is 33000#. I could tow a maximum of 11300#. I am quite sure the 6400 is heavier than the 6331 so, no, you cannot tow 15000# without going over the GCWR of the coach. As far as the engine goes, it is not the same as was in the Ford pickups. International has their own unique fuel and electronic systems. I have found the engine to actually be better than the Duramax I had in my last coach but I attribute a lot of that to the Allison 2500MH in the International over the Allison 1000 I had in the Duramax. I have not driven a 6400 but several on this forum say they have plenty of towing power.
How do you know if the unit you are looking at to buy has the 617 or the 529 gears? Without actually driving it to record RPM vs MPH? Is there a certain build date or build sheet?
